Senior Pastor

Welcome to Edmond First United Methodist Church! I am Scott Keneda, the new Senior Pastor. I am excited to be with you and would like to introduce myself to you. I grew up in Oklahoma City and graduated from Oklahoma City University and Candler School of Theology at Emory University in Atlanta, Georgia. I have served in ordained ministry in the Oklahoma Annual Conference of The United Methodist Church since 1991.

Angie and I met as students at OCU. She is a lifetime educator and after spending most of her career in elementary education as a classroom teacher and a reading specialist, she has spent the last ten years as a professor of developmental reading at Rose State College. We have two grown children: Anna who is a middle school history teaching in Baton Rogue, La. and Thomas who works in sales at a finance and payroll services company in Oklahoma City. Angie and I enjoy showing our Italian Greyhounds at AKC conformation shows and will often take our vacations to show them across the country.

I was called to ministry while in high school and began working in the United Methodist Church as a Youth Director while in college and seminary. Through the ministry of the church I came to know God's love and grace that was given as a gift for simply being a child of God and not because we have done something to deserve it. God loves us because we are, period. I believe that the church is called to be a contrasting model of God's kingdom lived in our unity, grace and compassion known through Jesus in a broken and fractured world. The world has tried to school us in the ways of division, but Jesus calls us to a love and family that is bigger than our disagreements. What we share in him is more than anything that can divide us. This is my conviction and I will tirelessly strive to live as an authentic witness to this kind of faith.

I eagerly look forward to getting to know each of you. If you are in Edmond and are looking for a church home, I hope you will come check us out and introduce yourself to me. We would love to get to know you and help you find a faith home among us.

With grace and hope,

Rev. Scott Keneda
