Volunteering Opportunities

Why Volunteer with Edmond First UMC?

Volunteering at Edmond First isn’t just about filling a role—it’s about living out our calling to love God and neighbor through acts of service. Whether you’re greeting guests at the reception desk, running sound for worship, or serving meals to those in need, your time and talents help create a church that is welcoming, compassionate, and deeply connected to the community.

We believe everyone has something to offer. From behind-the-scenes tech support to hands-on outreach, there’s a place for you to serve, grow, and make a difference.

Your Gifts, Your Calling

At Edmond First, we believe that every person carries a spark of divine creativity — a gift, a passion, a calling. As theologian Frederick Buechner writes, “Vocation is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.” That place may not always be on a signup sheet. It might be in a garden, a classroom, a kitchen, a camera lens, or a quiet conversation with someone who needs to be heard.

If you feel called to serve in a way not listed on this page, we want to hear about it. Whether it’s mentoring youth, creating art for worship, offering tech support, organizing supplies, or dreaming up new ministries —we’re here to support your vision and help it flourish. What is your spiritual gift? Teaching, hospitality, craftsmanship, encouragement, leadership, mercy — each one matters. It takes all of us, using our gifts together, to truly be the body of Christ in the world.

We see volunteering not just as filling roles, but as nurturing vocations. If your gladness meets a need we haven’t named, let’s talk. We’d love to help you discern, develop, and deploy your gift in a way that blesses others and brings joy to your soul.

Reach out to the church office at kat@fumcedmond.org or call (405) 341-0107.

Let’s find the place where your gladness
meets the world’s need.
