Leonards receive Skyline Leadership Award
On Friday, August 4, 2017, Skyline Urban Ministry held its annual fundraiser at the Devon Boathouse on Oklahoma River. Major Skyline supporters and volunteers, including 32 FUMC folks, gathered to celebrate the many accomplishments over the past year and to support this significant United Methodist urban ministry. Rev. Deborah Ingraham, Executive Director of Skyline, awarded Dr. Joe C. Leonard and Karen Leonard the Skyline Leadership Award.
Dr. Joe C. Leonard and Karen Leonard received the Skyline Leadership Award for their excellent leadership of Skyline that spans decades…back to the early 70’s. The Leonards have been leaders for Skyline in several areas including volunteering, advocacy, financial support, presence, participation, cheer-leading, and vision. Karen’s care and concern for those on the margin led her to lead Skyline to become the first “patron-choice” pantry not only in Oklahoma City, but also the state, which has made Skyline a model for Food Resource Centers and Food pantries alike. Joe’s enthusiastic support has led countless others to give their time, and gifts to Skyline. For their untiring leadership and support, we thank them.
