Sunday, March 5th, is the official beginning of the Skyline Lenten Challenge. As noted in the above chart, Skyline was a huge winner last year. The 5671 lbs. of food represented approximately 11% of the total food given by churches last year. The $19303 helped purchase the box truck used in picking up donated items. With three churches participating, we hope to do even better this year and enable the purchase of a walk in freezer for food storage.
While any item, except Ramen Noodles, too much salt, can be used, the most needed items are toilet paper, bar soap, canned vegetables, canned fruit and canned soup. If in the process of doing Spring cleaning you find items that could find a home in the clothing closet, don’t forget to bring them. Leave all items outside the East sanctuary doors or in the Wesley Hall foyer.
Monetary donations should be made out to FUMC with Skyline on the memo line.
Finally, don’t miss the Mission Committee Annual Pancake Breakfast in the CAC between 9:30am – 11:00am. Staff members from Skyline will be present, note the smart looking red shirts, to assist and answer your questions about their programs. All profits from the breakfast will go to Skyline.
