Children’s Ministry
Edmond First is a fun, faith-filled space where kids grow, lead, and serve.
Through interactive Sunday school, Wednesday night activities, VBS, church camps, and our Preschool/Mother’s Day Out program, we help children and families experience God’s love through hands-on learning and mission projects. We believe that children’s spiritual development is essential to their overall well-being, and our Children’s Ministry offers a nurturing environment where kids can explore faith, build friendships, and discover their unique gifts for serving others.
– Learn the teachings of Jesus Christ
– Build meaningful friendships
– Grow in faith through play, music, and storytelling
Our mission is to help children build a strong foundation of faith that will guide them throughout their lives.
“Play is often talked about as if it were a relief from serious learning.
But for children play is serious learning” – Fred Rogers.
Sunday Morning Programming

Nursery
At First United Methodist Church of Edmond, we believe in ministering to every age group including our littlest members. Our nursery is staffed by paid, experienced caregivers who are CPR and First Aid certified and who regularly participate in continuing education on child development and safety. With age-appropriate toys, games, and books, little ones enjoy a loving, Christian atmosphere while parents worship or attend classes.
Parents can rest assured that their babies are receiving personal care in a nurturing environment where faith is gently introduced. Nursery classes are available during all regular weekend and mid-week programming. Every detail is designed to keep your child safe, loved, and growing in faith – while you can relax and enjoy worship knowing they’re in great hands.
Sunday School 9:45 AM
At First United Methodist Church of Edmond, we want Sundays to be the best time of the week for your child! Each Sunday, kids gather for fun games, energetic praise music, and engaging faith lessons. In small groups, children build friendships while learning memory verses, practicing prayer, and taking active steps in following Jesus.
What to Expect
When you arrive, our friendly team will welcome you with a smile and help you through the check-in process. We recommend arriving about 10 minutes early to complete a quick form with parent/guardian information and any special needs your child may have.
Once checked in, you and your child will each receive a matching sticker with a code. If we need to reach you during the service, one of our team members will text or call you. After the service, simply show your sticker to safely pick up your child.
Worship and Wiggles 11:00 AM
At First United Methodist Church, we love having children in worship and celebrate their joyful presence as part of our church family. Families are always welcome to keep their children in the service, where little voices and wiggles remind us of God’s gift of life. For those who prefer, we also offer Worship and Wiggles during the 11:00 service. This special program provides kids with age-appropriate Bible lessons, music, movement, and plenty of space to wiggle all in a fun, faith-filled environment designed just for them.
The lessons often follow the same lectionary and theme as the main sermon and are thoughtfully designed to compliment what children are learning in Sunday School. Our goal is to grow a strong foundation of faith and love in the hearts of our youngest worshippers, helping them feel known, valued, and connected to God.
First Kids Choir
The First Kids Choir is a joyful opportunity for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade to grow in music and faith. Meeting Wednesday evenings during the school year, the choir is directed by Karen Hudgens and Debra Lord, who bring a love of music and children to every rehearsal.
Children not only learn songs to share in worship services throughout the year, but also gain a foundation in music theory, performance skills, and even introductory instruments. It’s a fun and meaningful way for kids to discover their musical gifts and use them to praise God.

Acolyte Ministries
At Edmond First, we truly believe that children are an essential part of our worship life. We think it’s crucial to encourage and inspire the next generation of worship leaders. And that’s why we’re inviting all students in grades second to fifth to become an acolyte! It’s a fantastic opportunity to get involved and contribute to our worship services.
Vacation Bible School 2026
Vacation Bible School (VBS) is one of the best weeks of the summer! It’s a special program designed just for kids, where faith and fun come together. Each evening, children will enjoy interactive Bible lessons, exciting games, creative art projects, and even hands-on science experiments all while making new friends and learning more about God’s love.
Join us June 1–4, 2026, from 6:00–8:00pm for this unforgettable adventure. VBS is open to children 3 years through fifth grade, and there’s no cost to attend.

Kids Camp 2026
Kids Camp is one of the best three days and two nights of the summer! Designed for children in Kindergarten through 5th grade, this overnight camp gives kids the chance to step away from their everyday routines and dive into an adventure filled with fun, friendship, and faith.
From campfires under the stars to silly games, creative crafts, energetic songs, and outdoor adventures, there’s something for everyone. In the midst of all the excitement, campers will also have meaningful opportunities to grow in their faith, learn more about God’s love, and strengthen friendships that can last long after camp is over. Kids Camp is a place where memories are made, faith takes root, and kids get to simply be kids.
Whether you’re a student looking to get involved, a parent with questions, or just want to learn more about our youth ministry, we’d love to hear from you!
