Rev. Danny Moss

Senior Pastor (Elder)

 

Danny Moss came June 2005 from Tulsa, FUMC where he had been the Executive Associate and Mission Pastor. Prior to that appointment he was District Superintendent of the Tulsa and Ardmore Districts. Before being appointed as a DS, Danny was the Pastor of Lawton First UMC.

 

Danny is currently a member of the Congregational Development Board and is a member of the Edmond Kiwanis Club.

 

Danny, a graduate of St. Paul School of Theology and Southwestern College in Winfield, KS, has been a delegate to both Jurisdictional and General Conferences and has served on a variety of Boards and Commissions of the Annual Conference.

 

Danny is married to Annette. They have been married 36 years.  They have two married children and four grandchildren. Matt and Elizabeth, and their children Abigail, Ethan and Isabella live in Dallas, Texas. Joanna and her husband, Chris and their son, Grant live in Norman.

 

Annette is a Certified Medical Assistant and enjoys sewing, quilting, and other crafts.  Her family is from Hobart, Oklahoma.  Danny’s parents, Rev. and Mrs. Bill and Jean Moss, reside in Pryor, Oklahoma.  Danny & Annette's special interest in recent years has been in the area of Missions.  They have had the opportunity to go on VIM trips to  Sri Lanka, China, Russia, Mexico and Poland.

Rev. Paul Calkin

Associate Pastor

 

Rev. Paul Calkin was born while his folks lived in Egypt – Egypt, Arkansas, just outside Jonesboro. He is married to our other Associate Pastor, Rev. Jeni Markham Clewell. They were married on December 29, 2007!

 

Paul is a graduate of Phillips University and the Phillips Graduate Seminary. He was ordained into Christian Ministry in the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in 1978. Since 1972, he has served a variety of congregations in both the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) and The United Methodist Church. He was first Appointed to a United Methodist Church in Oklahoma in 1991 at OKC Chapel Hill United Methodist Church.  He became an Elder in Full Connection by Recognition of Orders in The Oklahoma Annual Conference of the United Methodist Church in 1998.  Paul assumed his responsibilities here at First Church on June 8, 2003.

 

Paul has two children, Megan who lives in the Blanchard area and Brent who lives in OKC and is a member here at First Church.  Paul and Jeni enjoy their two grandchildren, Braxton and Kori, son and daughter of Megan and her husband Jeff.  Braxton was born on Paul's birthday in October 2000!  Kori joined the family in November 2004.

 

Paul loves to read, cook, watch W.C. Fields movies and enjoys what he calls fishing (actually riding around and looking at lakes). He and Jeni enjoy traveling and being with family and friends.

Rev. Jeni Markham Clewell
Associate Pastor of Children's Ministries

 

The Rev. Jeni Markham Clewell was born in Tulsa and graduated from Nathan Hale High School.  Her Mom is living at the Methodist Manor in Tulsa. She lives with our other Associate Pastor, Rev. Paul Calkin; they were married December 29, 2007! She graduated from OCU twice - once with a Bachelors in Music Education and once with a Masters in Religious Education.

 

A lifelong Methodist, Jeni was consecrated into Diaconal Ministry in 1997. She began her ministry in internship at OKC B.C. Clark Memorial UMC in 1994. She then moved to OKC Epworth UMC near OCU in the Gatewood neighborhood, where she served in ministry until coming to Edmond First Church in April 2005.  Jeni was ordained as a Deacon in Full Connection in the Oklahoma Conference in 2000.

 

One of Jeni's proudest mission experiences has been the Manos Juntas Free Medical Clinic at OKC Epworth, where she remains on the Board of Directors.  She has served as an HIV/AIDS educator in many settings.  Active in the Reconciling Ministries Network, she served on their Board of Directors from 2001-2004.

 

The Oklahoma Conference's Summer Joy Camp Program remains a joy of Jeni's ministry.  This Summer(2008) will make the 14th year she has served as Joy Camp Dean.

 

Jeni has three beautiful and brilliant children – Macy, who is studying nursing at Tulsa’s St. Francis Hospital; Jordan, who is serving our country in Iraq; and Jae, a student and artist at the College of Santa Fe in New Mexico.

 

Books are a passion of Jeni's, as well as music and movies.  Two cats, Bianca and Axel, and a dog, Lucky, reside with Paul and Jeni and essentially run the household.
