Honduras Mission Trip Report
July 26-August 3, 2003

Those who went:  Howard Farris, Sue Henley, Fred Hicks, Gert Myers, Nevin Starkey, Bill Gately and Nancy Reynen.

I want to thank everyone who contributed to the mission to Honduras.  It was a wonderful trip and much was accomplished.  The construction crew finished the foundation for an addition to the church and they were pouring the floor the day we left.  The medical team saw about 350 patients in 4 days and we dispensed 250 pairs of glasses.  But the most joy we received was the interaction with the people of Puerto Cortes.  They were so appreciative of the help.  Thank you for your help.

Youth Force a Success!
July 2003

Six of our youth and two adult sponsors traveled to Louisiana for a week of mission and service.  They were part of the Youth Force Mission Project in which youth from all over the state join together for weeks during the summer to repair homes for elderly, disabled and low-income homeowners in selected communities.  In West Monroe, Louisiana they joined with approximately 150 other students and adults to repair 21 homes in four days.  Team projects included everything from painting and scraping to repairing plumbing, to completely re-roofing houses.

In the evenings, the individual project teams joined together for recreation and worship before falling into an exhausted sleep.

Rachel Atnip, Chad Griffin, Morgan Swink, Jera Hancock, Alex Hensley, and Elizabeth Hensley were our youth members and they did a wonderful job representing our church.

Also contributing to the success of the the trip were all those who donated or loaned tools to the cause including Bonita and Charles Garrett, David and Jan Pezant, and many other anonymous donors along with the church itself, which allowed the use of the church bus.  Great job!
