Adult Ministry

The Adult Ministry helps us offer adult study programs and raises our awareness related to all types of adult ministry.  What can we do for/with adults of all ages to enhance their lives, ministry, spiritual life, and outreach?

Audio/Visual Ministries

Sound Operator:  We rely upon folks from within our congregation to run the sound at all four morning worship services.  This opportunity involves adjusting sound levels on microphones and accompaniment CD’s.  Training is provided.  If you are interested, contact Rev. Paul Calkin at the church office (341-0107) or paul@fumcedmond.org.

Video Camera Operator: Our morning worship services are videotaped, then made into DVDs for those who are homebound or traveling.  Training is provided.  If you are interested, contact Jim Hagar, Director of AV Ministries, in the church office (341-0107) or e-mail us at  eumc@fumcedmond.org

Board of Trustees

This group of nine persons meets monthly to deal with all the facilities issues we have at FUMC.  We need people who will help us not only maintain, but also beautify our facilities and grounds.

Children’s Ministries:

WOW Preschool Leader and Shepherd – loves young children, ages 3 and 4, shares a story and a craft with them on Wednesday evenings during WOW, 6:30 – 7:15.

Leaders for Sunday School – Leaders for this ministry would lead a defined curriculum to a different group of children each Sunday as they rotate through the “Fantastic Journey.”  Training is provided.

Special 5th Sunday Fantastic Journey Lay Servants – Four or five times a year, we need folks to help with some special emphases of our “Fantastic Journey.” Training is provided.

If you are interested, please contact Rev. Jeni Markham Clewell at the church office (341-0107) or at jeni@fumcedmond.org

Church and Society Ministry

The Church and Society Ministry helps us respond to ministries such as Skyline Urban Ministry, Heifer Project, Whiz Kids, the Re-cycling program and other social conscious/helping ministries.

Daily Opportunities

Opportunities you can participate in daily include Campbells Labels for Education and The Magic Toiletries Basket for Skyline Urban Ministries.

Maintenance Team

This is a group of people in our church that gets their hands dirty changing light bulbs, fixing toilets, painting walls, and doing whatever they can to save us calling in professionals to do fix-it jobs we could have done ourselves---hence, saving the church many, many dollars in labor costs.

Missions Ministry

The Missions Ministry helps us plan international and local mission experiences.  Project Transformation, our Annual Mission Trip, the Boy’s Ranch Rodeo, Mission Shares program, etc. are included in the portfolio of this ministry team.  This team helps us carry the good news to the world.

Permanent Endowment Committee

This committee is to design and monitor an ongoing plan for building a permanent endowment at FUMC, the interest of which could fund much of our capital needs.  Now we are funding building repair and capital needs out of the budget.  An endowment could free our offerings for ministry instead of brick and mortar.

Staff Parish Relations

This is the personnel committee of the church and works directly with the District Superintendent of the North OKC district when there are appointed pastor positions to fill.  This group is the group that supports, encourages, challenges and oversees all staffing of the church.

Stephen Ministry

Stephen Ministry is grounded in Jesus' command to love one another. Through one-to-one caring relationships, those who are hurting receive the love and care they need to support them.

Youth Council

This group, made up of youth and adults oversees our Youth ministry department and works with our Youth Pastor to provide quality youth ministry in our church.

Youth Ministries:

There are many opportunities to serve in the Youth Ministry of our congregation.  Here are a few:

¨       Middle School Sunday School teacher(s).

¨       Wednesday Night Youth Bible Study adult teachers.

¨       Sunday night worship musician/song leader (need to be able to play guitar, keyboard, etc.)

¨       Spring Break Mission Trip Coordinator and volunteers

¨       Summer Camp Coordinators/Volunteers

If you are interested in serving in this way, please contact our Youth Director, Thomas Riffey, at the church office (341-0107) or at thomas@fumcedmond.org

 Welcome and Nurture Ministry

Our Welcome and Nurture Ministry helps us respond to visitors, new member and create a welcoming environment for all who enter the doors of our church via worship, Sunday school, etc.

Worship Committee

This group meets monthly to discuss not only the quality of all our worship experiences and space, but also dreams about what we can do to uplift the special seasons of the year, like: Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, World Wide Communion Sunday, etc.  This group works to provide Banners for the sanctuary, to decorate for Christmas and other seasons, etc.
