UMW 2004
Charge Conference Report

This was an important year
for United Methodist Women. We are celebrating 135
years in missions
I am thankful for our
United Methodist Women. We have six Circles and one
Support Group. They have served God in many, many
ways. Some of these are listed below:
1. The meetings we have
attended are: District Winter Workshop, South
Central Jurisdiction Meeting in San Antonio Texas,
District Day Apart, Schools of Christian Mission at
OCU, District Annual Meeting, UMW Annual Meeting In
November, we will have local officer's training. We
will also attend Toole Tyme at Cookson Hills.
2. We had one membership
coffee and most Circles have gained several members.
3. Our Lenten study, "The
Journey to Freedom," was taught by Burchie Louthan.
4. Each Circle collected
books to be given to Sunset Elementary School.
Approximately 150 new books were donated. Other
ways women served at the school: monitors for the
yearly tests, bringing refreshments for the staff
and organizing the school's supply closet.
5. Four backpacks, 12
boxes and 2 sacks of school supplies were given to
The John Wesley Charter School by our Unit.
6. During the school term,
our Circles supply luncheon twice a month for the
Wesley Foundation.
7. The Wedding Committee
provided services for three wedding receptions this
year.
8. The Funeral Committee
provided meals for 12 funerals.
9. The Circles
corresponded with 5 United Methodist missionaries.
10. Our Unit had 19
readers. This is more than any other Unit in the
District.
11. Our Unit has 2
District Officers.
12. We are a Gold Star
Unit.
13. Our United Methodist
Women have provided or helped with meals for our
church on special occasions.
14. We gave money to
Circle of Care, Neighborhood Services Organization,
Cookson Hills, Skyline Ministries, Mobile Meals, The
Meadows, Hope Center, Breakfast on Boulevard, Youth
Force and Exodus House.
Our United Methodist Women
not only give of their love and money, but are also
a praying Unit.
